Faith Life Devotional: Create New Headlines
Updated: Jun 30
Nowadays we see all kinds of news headlines. Some are frightening, and can cause despair. In your life there are always news headlines, written and unwritten. When something happens in your life, imagine that news stories are published about it. Do you like those headlines?
Do you know that as a born again Christian you have the power to create new headlines? It could be the news headlines in your country, your family, or the news headlines about your personal life. Do you like the headlines about your personal situation? If the answer is no, you can change it by “creating” in the spirit realm.
God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Recall that in Genesis 1 verse 1 the Bible says “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. God has made us in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27) and we have the power to create.
After Jesus was crucified, and God raised Him from the dead (Acts 13:30), He gave His followers the authority and power to use His Name. Believers have the authority to use the Name of Jesus. Jesus said in Mark 16 verses 17 – 18:
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” [New King James Version]
Remember that Jesus also said that whatever you forbid on Earth will be forbidden, and whatever you allow on Earth will be allowed (Matthew 18:18). So as God created, you can also create.
Let’s take a look at how God created. From Genesis 1 verse 1 – 3:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. [New King James Version].
So the earth was formless and there was darkness all over, obviously God did not like it that way so He spoke what He desired into existence. He said “let there be light”. As a believer, you have the power to speak things into existence by commanding it to happen in the Name of Jesus Christ.
It is important to note that in creation, God did not rest till everything was very good.
Genesis 1 verse 31:
Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 2 verses 1 & 2:
Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
God only rested when He had finished and He saw that everything was very good. As a child of God, when you are creating, you should not rest or stop till you get your desired outcome. You need to keep at it and be persistent [See the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18: 1 – 8].
Another way of creating new headlines, is through prayer. Prayer is the act of communicating with God. In prayer you ask God to intervene in a matter on the earth. See Matthew 7: 7 – 11 and John 16:23 – 24.
As God answers your prayers, things change, and headlines change.
If you do not like the current headlines in your life, your city, your family, your church, or your nation, you can pray to the Father, asking in the Name of Jesus. You can also command things to change in the Name of Jesus. Always remember that everything bows to the Name of Jesus, and obeys commands made in His Name.
Philippians 2: 9 – 10
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, (New King James Version).
So go ahead and create new headlines. Be persistent in prayer and make commands in the Name of Jesus, and stay on the matter till your change comes!
If you have not accepted Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour, and have not become born again, you can do so right now because it is a necessary first step to becoming a creator and having the authority of a believer, and the right to use the Name of Jesus. To surrender to Jesus and become born again pray the Salvation Prayer out loud from your heart. God bless you.
