Rooted Daily: Ambassadors Indeed

Scripture Reading

2 Corinthians 5:12–21; Joshua 1:1–9

An ambassador does not represent personal opinions or interests. An ambassador speaks and acts on behalf of the nation that sent them. Their words, conduct and decisions are expected to reflect the values and position of their home country.

In the same way, every believer has been appointed to represent Jesus Christ on earth.

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us.”— 2 Corinthians 5:20, NKJV

Wherever God has placed you—at home, in business, in ministry, at school, in the workplace or within your community—you are there as Christ’s representative. Your life should reveal His character, and your words should point people towards reconciliation with God.

You may live on earth, but your true citizenship is in heaven. Ephesians 2:5–6 tells us that God made us alive with Christ, raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places. Therefore, we must not allow the standards of the world to determine how we live. Our values, confidence and instructions come from the Kingdom of God.

An ambassador does not speak according to personal feelings. They communicate the authorised position of the nation they represent. Likewise, our spiritual authority does not come from speaking whatever we desire. It comes from knowing God’s Word, agreeing with it and speaking in the name of Jesus.

God told Joshua:

“Be strong and of good courage… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”— Joshua 1:9, NKJV

Joshua could walk boldly because he had received God’s instructions and carried God’s presence. As Christ’s ambassador, you can also live courageously when your life and words are aligned with Scripture.

An ambassador’s needs are provided for by the country that sent them. In the same way, your ultimate source is not the economy, your employer, your customers or the resources presently available to you. God may use these channels, but He remains your Source.

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”— Philippians 4:19, NKJV

Notice that God supplies according to His riches, not according to your limitations or the economic condition of the nation in which you live. Heaven is not experiencing scarcity. Your Father knows what you need [See Matthew 6:31 - 33], and He is faithful to provide as you trust Him and obey His direction.

Ambassadors also receive protection while carrying out their assignments. This does not mean believers will never experience difficulty, opposition or trials. It means that we are never abandoned. God watches over us, preserves us and remains with us through every circumstance.

Deuteronomy 32:10 says that God kept Jacob as the apple of His eye. Psalm 105:15 declares, “Do not touch My anointed ones.” These Scriptures remind us that our lives are under God’s watchful care.

You are not on earth merely to pursue personal success. You have been entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation. Through your conduct, kindness, integrity, testimony and faithful proclamation of the gospel, God desires to draw others to Himself.

Seek His Kingdom first. Represent Christ faithfully. Trust God for your provision, protection and direction. As you make His priorities your priorities, He will take care of everything you need to fulfil your assignment.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”— Matthew 6:33, NKJV

Today, remember who you are. You are not powerless, forgotten or without purpose. You have been sent by the King of kings.

Represent Him well.

Memory Verse

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”— 2 Corinthians 5:20, NKJV
